Taking off where "after touch" left off - Neurotica turned up the guitars for a more raw sound, lyrically & vocally less restrained (i.e. stopped trying to be Dave Gahan!). Of the track "Epitaph", Alan "Depeche Mode" Wilder wrote "..has ideas and energy worth so much more than a slick demo." Quite.
